Grandpa and grandson

Grandson asked his grandpa:

»Gradpa tell me what is life?«

»Life is the time between the azan (call to the prayer) and the salat (prayer),« he answered.

The young boy wasn't satisfied with the answer and so he asked further:

»But how? Life isn't so short?«

Grandpa:

»Yes, yes, my child, life is really that short. You have the azan without salat and salat without the azan, but life is somwhere between.«

»I don't understand…Explain what you have told me right now.« requested the child.

»Do you remember, when we recited last week to your brother Ali the azan in his ear? That was the azan without the salat.« (1)

»I know that.« confused he tels his grandpa. »But tell me what is the salat without the azan.«

Grandpa: »You will se, when I die.« (2)

LIFE

Life is in reality short so let us make good use of it by doing good deeds with hope of Allah's satisfaction and His reward.

(1) Azan is recited to the newborns in their ear.

(2) When a person dies, then we pray Janazah-salat and before this salat there isn't any azan.
