Layla: "As-salaamu alaikum!
I want to know: Can a woman take part in Jummah (the friday prayer) or is it recommended that they also go on the prayer. my saalami."

Women and Jummah

We alejkumu selam!

Allah unloosened women from certain obligations because of their family occupations, child-breeding etc. Women have a lot of work to do so some of "rituals" aren't obligatory for them. If a woman would love to practise some prayers, then that isn't a problem to do. It is not forbidden for a woman to participate in common prayers in the mosques nor on Jummah. Muhammed a.s. once told: "Do not forbid the women slaves of Allah the houses of God!"

By one thought of the hanbeli mazhab the woman is obligatory to participate in common prayers irrespective of her obligations. For example, if the prayer time arises, she is mandatory to leave the house, children, food on the oven and go to the mosque.

Surely this is a big problem for her! Islam is a religion of relief and not the religion of problems.

As regards to the Jummah prayer. It is nice of her to go, but it is not obligatory.

p.s.: If a woman goes on the Jummah, she has the same obligatories as men (for example: She has to bathe).

We hope, we did a good job.
