CONVERSATION WITH A HAJJI
Like we promised that we are going to write about a
chat with our hadji Salih Omanovic, we finally did it On 11th February 2007 I and Amir went to Mr. hadji Salih Omanovic to make a short conversation about hajj and about the experiences he lived to see at hajj. Before we continue with the chat, a little information on »what is hajj?«. Hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca) is the 5. pillar of religion – islam. This is the highest thing a muslim wishes for. Hajj is fajr (a duty for every muslim), which is mentioned in the Qur'an (2th surah, 196 ajat And complete the Hajj or 'umra in the service of Allah.) and in the Sunnah of prophet Muhammed a.s. Mr. hajji Salih has decided for hajj, because he realized that it is an obligation, which he has to preform, on the other side, this was his personal wish. After a long period of time he gathered the money to pay for the ticket. After taking some advices of other hajjis, who went already on hajj, Mr. Džemil Silic advised him to go over the Vienna agency, which has many years of experience and leads this project respectively. Mr. hajji Salih immediately called the agency in Vienna, where they told him exactly what he must send to them and what he must take with him so he would be ready for the way to Mecca. Hajji Salih was very happy and he waited impatintly for the day, when he would sit on a plane, which will fly to Mecca. The day came and hajji Salih went to Mecca, where he complited all the ceremonies, which are required for hajj and he even took some time for viewing all the other remarkablenesses. Hajji Salih described hajj in a few words, because his group, with which he was in Mecca, had everything organized, they didn't worry at all. Hajj was very interesting for him and full of enthusiasm, as he had said, despite the heat, climate and the circumstances, which rule in these places, he was driven by the will and the feeling, which he couldn't decribe so he easily went through all of these efforts, which is a miracle for a person with 70 years. There are many things he will never forget and which are engraved into his heart, from the place where he stayed to the visits in mosques, specially the mosque of Muhammed a.s. He says that it stroke him when he realized that the first muslims were here, walking, talking, praying…Specially in the mosque of Muhammed a.s., where he all the time thought how Muhammed a.s. centuries ago prayed to God. The fellings were indescribable and he loved it a lot. But everything has to be finished some day and so the pilgrimage ended. The return was hard, but he had only one thing on his mind and that is: »May Allah accept my hajj.« After the chat Mr. hajji Salih showed us some pictures from hajj and so we ended the chat. We are pleased with the conversation with our new hajji and we ask God to accept his hajj and rewarded him for his deeds.
